19GRAMS: LAUNCHED WITH COURAGE AND IDEALISM

In 2002, Robert Stock and Sascha Spittel founded the specialty coffee roastery "Tres Cabezas" in Berlin's hip Friedrichshain. With a lot of idealism and passion, their idea was to roast really good, sustainable coffee. And also with a lot of courage - because in 2002, specialty coffee was certainly a topic in the USA and the UK, but rather less so in Germany.

FROM A TO Z

The two founders were initially inquisitive and wanted to learn everything. They really wanted to know everything - about cultivation, harvesting, varieties and everything else about the coffee cosmos. They traveled to various coffee-growing countries and met many farmers - today they are friends. Together, they helped out, planted and harvested their own coffee plants, and were as close to the bean as they could get.
The founders have received a special award for their work from Crema Magazine: 19grams was named Roaster of the Year 2022.

BACK TO THE ROOTS

The motto "Back to the roots" sums up the roastery's idea and approach in a nutshell. The initial product of the coffee cherry should be in the foreground. Cultivation should be sustainable and in harmony with nature. The coffee farmers and ranchers are treated like friends, paid fairly and the relationships are personal and close. The logistics chains are partly completely handled by the roastery itself, but also by friendly logistics companies that work transparently. The inspiring influence of colleagues from Australia has led to the roastery now being called 19grams. This corresponds to the amount used for a double espresso there. 19grams has one overriding goal: to get a little better every day.

DISCO FEELINGS, ENDLESS SUMMER DAYS AND CLASSICS: 19GRAMS HAS A COLORFUL OFFER

Notes of sour cherry jam and dark chocolate are what ESPRESSO ITALO DISCO has. Made from 100% Arabica beans of the Yellow Bourbon variety from Brazil, it is meant to evoke the classic roast of the 80s and 90s. The ESPRESSO ENDLESS SUMMER satisfies the longing for endless summer days. The beans from Costa Rica have notes of warm cocoa and the exotic sweetness of melon. The classic 19grams espresso is the WILD AT HEART. Notes of strawberries harmonize with the creamy sweetness of caramel and chocolate.

SPECIALTY COFFEE FROM 19GRAMS

The roastery 19grams wants to introduce coffee drinkers to specialty coffee and make them familiar with the sweetness, acidity and flavors of specialty coffee. To make this possible, 19grams' employees have traveled extensively, planted their own coffee farm, and over time learned more and more about what makes good coffee and its coffee beans, and how it is roasted. In the meantime, the specialty roastery has grown to include colleagues from other countries such as Australia and the USA.

THE ENTHUSIASM

The enthusiasm for specialty coffee continues to grow in the coffee world. 19grams wants to make all coffee fans aware that coffee can be so much more than a bag of espresso or filter coffee from the supermarket for little money. The coffee roasting company from Berlin pays attention to the producers, travels to Farmer:innen and strives to produce your products truly sustainable. "Rich, clear in flavor and retaining the sweetness of the coffee cherry" - that's the maxim under which 19grams roasts.
