CHEMEX: PURE DESIGN - PURE TASTE

Chemex has been family owned since 1980 and is based in Western Massachusetts. Chemex products are manufactured here and distributed worldwide.

THE ICON IN THE SHAPE OF AN HOURGLASS

The Chemex coffee maker was invented in 1941 by chemist Dr. Peter Schlumbohm with the aim of making everyday appliances more functional and attractive. As a chemist, he understood the process of extracting flavor and caffeine from coffee beans. The Chemex carafe, with its hourglass shape, has since become an icon and remains unchanged for 70 years with its simple as well as clear design. Later, the fine-pored Chemex paper filter was also invented, which guarantees perfect extraction thanks to its pointed shape. In addition, the age-old invention was named one of the 100 best-developed products of modern times by the Illinois Institute of Technology.

SIMPLY CONVINCING TRADITION

Chemex's mission is to manufacture first-class and superior coffee-making equipment. Chemex stands for excellence in product and customer service. The Chemex preparers impress with an impeccable combination of design and function and enjoy great popularity in the coffee scene. It allows an individual result depending on the preference of the strength of the coffee - and completely without bitterness. Traditionally, this hand filter method with its simple and clear design has a heat-insulating wooden collar which is fixed by a leather strap. Meanwhile, different versions of the simple coffee maker, from a capacity for three cups to a size of eight cups, are on the market.

FULL-BODIED AND AROMATIC TASTE WITH THE CHEMEX

The Chemex is characterized by the particularly full-bodied and aromatic taste experience. It is recommended to use a lighter roast and a medium grind, as the coffee has a lot of twill due to the special filter and can quickly become too strong. In addition, the brewing time should not exceed 4 minutes, so that the bitter substances do not begin to dissolve. Just like the world-famous octagonal Bialetti stove-top pot, the Chemex can also be found in the "Modern Museum of Arts" in New York.
