SOY COFFEEWARE - THE STORY BEHIND THE WORLD'S LEADING COFFEEMAKER

Emir Ali Enc is the owner of SOY. But how did he come to found SOY? We take you on a journey through the Orient about the story of its origin!

THE STORY ABOUT SOY: THIS IS EMIR ALI ENC

The son of two diplomats, he studied in Ankara in order to make a career as a diplomat himself. He himself has lived in eight countries and speaks all eight languages. During his studies, he missed his mother's good copper pots and pans. Therefore, he decided to go to Syria by motorcycle. There he did an intensive internship with a master coppersmith for six months. Emir wanted to know everything about the materials and the craft. Back in Istanbul, he founded SOY in 2011 with $7,000 in equity and started the copper fabrication business with one employee. A good friend of Emir's later signed him up for the Turkish version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" so he could put the winnings into SOY as well.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST BAZAAR IS SOY'S FACTORY

Every morning, Emir takes the ferry from the Asian side of Istanbul, where he lives, to the European side. There is the largest market in the world: the Grand Bazaar, built in 1678. The Bazaar was built during the Ottoman Empire. In over 4,000 stores, treasures such as jewelry or gold, but also food and clothing are offered. There is hustle and bustle and life in all the aisles. In one of these alleys is the headquarters of SOY.

EVERY PIECE OF SOY IS MADE BY HAND WITH LOVE AND PASSION.

Today there are five employees who work for SOY every day with energy and passion. Each product is produced by hand. The cezves of SOY, the classic Turkish coffee makers, are partly formed with the help of molds. These are very difficult to make, as they consist of seven different pieces that have to be put together like a puzzle. The hands and body weight are used to operate the massive equipment to make the copper pots.

Professionals such as World Cezve Champion Turgay Yildzli and Michelin star chefs use and appreciate SOY's products. Copper is a very suitable material because it can get hot very quickly but also cool down quickly. So you have a great control over the temperature in the copper pots. SOY'S PRODUCTS ARE EMIR'S "BABIES"

The name SOY has several meanings in Turkish: Origin, Family and Roots. Emir himself calls his workshop pieces babies. When acquaintances wonder why Emir chose the Grand Bazaar over a career as a diplomat, he replies that it makes him sad when he doesn't hear the hammering of the workshop. SOY is not only his company, but his whole passion.
